Artist's Description

Whooping Cranes, Grus americana, parents and chick at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, Gulf Coast, Texas. Tallest North American bird. Endangered. Birds winter at Aransas NWR then migrate to Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada for summer. In January 2012 there were 283 birds at Aransas. The chick is banded, with two bands on the right leg, and a radio tracking device on the left leg.

She is fortunate that her husband's career has taken her to far flung destinations and allowed many opportunities for world wide travel. She contributes her travel and nature images to several stock agencies, and her flower and garden imagery to a specialist garden agency. Louise was born in the UK, and raised in Toronto, Canada. Louise's first career was in library and information management, working with scientific research companies in Canada and New York.
