Description
Janet Head Lighthouse, Gore Bay, North Channel, Manitoulin Island. The attractive white light station and keeper's cottage with red trim sits at the mouth of Gore Bay. A stop on the island is one of many possibilities for recreational boaters following the route of America's Great Loop. The protected bay offers the rugged scenery created by the granite rock of the Canadian Shield. The lighthouse is still operational, although now unmanned. Visitors can tour the keeper's former home on open days during the summer months. This area of Lake Huron is a popular travel destination and cottage country for the cities of Southern Ontario.
