Silves Castle, Algarve, Portugal. Crenellated walls of the partially restored castle. Although there has been a fortification on this site since the Phoenecians, the present structure was destroyed during the reconquest and rebuilt afterwards. In spite of frequent destruction and restoration, there are still vestiges of the original Moorish castle and a cistern that dates from Roman times. This image has been enhanced with digital effects.

Louise's interests have always been concentrated on travel and the arts, in spite of her first career being spent entirely in the world of science. She is fortunate that her husband's career has taken her to far flung destinations and allowed many opportunities for world wide travel.
