Description
The Flame of Liberty (Flamme de la Liberte) at sunset with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The monument is a full size replica of the new flame carried by the torch of the Statue of Liberty in New York. The flame is a lasting symbol of the friendship between France and the United States. The flame has become an unofficial memorial for Princess Diana, who died in the tunnel under the Pont de l'Alma. Tourists still leave flowers and stick flypapers on the monument.
